“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons” (Gal 4:4-5, ESV).
“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:14).
โFor God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him” (John 3:16-17).
“As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you” (John 20:21).
Wonderful words on which to meditate during Advent and the new year! God sent the Son to save us; and sent us so others may be saved. If your Christmas is only about a Savior who is sent for you and not One who saves to send, then you are missing part of the story of the Incarnation. Let’s not miss this!
I hope you have wonderful Christmas and a joy-filled new year!
Season five of Strike the Match ended last week, and I am planning to take some time off from the blog too. Now is a busy time.
I am scheduled to teach an evangelism and church planting course at Beeson Divinity School during January, preparing for spring semester classes at Samford University, and finishing my Theology of Mission book for Lexham Press (due Feb 1). I would greatly appreciate your prayers!
This will be my last post until February–unless something unusual occurs. ๐
Until then, you may keep up with me on The Twitter and The Facebook.
